Making your Connection Secure

In order to gain access to nmsu.cascade.com it is necessary to use a VPN client on your computer. A VPN (virtual private network) client is a program that protects your internet connection from various malicious activities. It is imperative to the security of all NMSU websites and must be initiated prior to logging into Cascade each and every time. 

Fortunately, you need only download it once, it is easy to install, quick to open, and will run in the background once you activate it for the duration of your session.

The university-approved VPN is Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.
Download it here:

Once installed,

  • run this program,
  • type "vpn.nmsu.edu" in the domain box, and
  • enter your myNMSU credentials.

 

icon that denotes a Secure connection  You will see the lock icon with a green checkmark indicating that your connection is now secure. Now you may minimize the program and return to your interntet browser to log into Cascade.
